WEEK 5: FARMVILLE

Here is this week's photo for my 52 Weeks Project:

Week 5: Farmville

These are not your regular and ordinary fruits and veggies.
These fruits and vegetables came from our very own (not virtual) farm.

My mom has a farm land which is being maintained and tilled by farmer tenants. It's harvest season so we got a bunch of veggies and fruits from them. Dry season are for squash, watermelons, melons and corn; while wet season is for rice.

WEEK 4: HANGING LANTERNS

Here is my 52 Weeks Project entry for this week:

Week 4: Hanging Lanterns

I found these Inca (and somewhat scary) lanterns hanging at the Second Floor of Conggo Grill at Westgate in Alabang where we had our Canossa Highschool mini-reunion and get-together last Friday.

Our good friend, Che, came home from the US for a vacation so we decided to meet-up and catch up. What a fun evening! It was great seeing everyone again.

FASHION AT THE GLOBES

It's my yearly tradition to do a blog post on my favorite Oscar's Red Carpet fashions. I saw today this year's 67th Golden Globe Awards gowns and decided to post my favorites from it, too.

This year's Red Carpet at the Globes had so many brightly colored gowns in satin and metallic, but my favorites are still those in frock-like nude tones. Some also came in traditional black to be on the safe side.

Best Actress Drew Barrymore in Atelier Versace
This is definitely my favorite Golden Globe gown.

Chloe Sevigny at the 67th Golden Globe Awards
Best Supporting Chloe Sevigny in Valentino
I'm sure that this is not a popular design but I love it! I love cascading layers and ruffles in gowns and tops.

Penelope Cruz at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Pene is always the bomb when it comes to Red Carpet fashions.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski at the 67th Golden Globe Awards
Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana
Pink chiffon is love!

Courteney Cox & David Arquette at the 67th Golden Globe Awards

I like the classy black. And it was designed by Posh!

Jane Krakowski at the 67th Golden Globe Awards
Jane Krakowski by J. Mendel
The color and design is just divine!

More Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashions can be found here. See you at the Oscar's!

P.S.
I also must say that I am really happy that Avatar, James Cameron and Robert Downey, Jr. (for Sherlock Holmes) won in the Globes this year! I am hoping that they will also win at the Oscar's.

WEEK 2: CANDLE HOLDER ART

Here is my 52 Weeks Project entry for the Week 2 of the year:

Week 2: Candle Holder Art

I found this artistic candle holder at the clubhouse of Bonifacio Heights last Wednesday where we had our group's strategic planning. I love its uniqueness and the intertwined wire leaves and twigs so I took a snap.

This is also my first attempt in post-processing with multi-layers. I like the light and soft effect of the photo and the shadows that were captured.

WEEK 1: A HIGHLANDS WEDDING

Happy New Year!

As part of my resolution for the year, I committed myself to taking more photos compared to last year. I vowed to devote some of my time this year to photography. I also got myself a Flickr Pro account where I will document the beautiful pictures and memories of the year.

As motivation, I started a 52 Weeks Photo Project where I will upload one photo a week and make short descriptions about it. I began the project this week and will cross-post here whatever I will upload on my Flickr - so that guarantees at least four blog posts a month. Yey me!

Here's my first entry:

Week 1: Highlands Wedding

The first wedding of the year was Francis and Cleng's last January 3 at Madre De Dios Chapel at Tagaytay Midlands, Tagaytay City, Philippines. The wedding was also my 11th "bridesmaidship".

This much-awaited celebration was 11 years in the making. It was grand, fun and truly nice. The whole event was well-prepared and memorable. Beautiful couple, fabulous gowns, the priest's sermon was good, the food were sumptuous, and the entertainment provided was the talk of the town!

Best Wishes, Francis & Cleng!

HAPPY 2010!

Fire Dancer in Boracay

Here's to a kinder world and fiercer loves,
to sun-drenched beaches and tree-shaded mountains,
to vintage wine and fresh coffee,
to peace in our hearts and chaos on the...dancefloor!
Here's to a fab Twenty Ten!

The picture above is my Photo of the Year for 2009. It was taken on the last night of our vacation in Boracay last June. I never had the chance to post the photo until today; which seems appropriate as closing to a very challenging yet sweet year!

TOP NEWS EVENTS OF 2009

This is first part of a series of my annual year-ender post. This was inspired by the Top 10 of Everything list of Time which they also publish yearly. I neglected writing on this blog for quite some time so I will post in length by batch my TOP EVERYTHING for this year.

TOP NEWS EVENTS
I classified this as the Top News Events of the year which affected me most - political, national, current events, scandals, pop culture - whether it's positive or negative.

The Obama Inauguration
I was glued to the TV and the Internet last January 21 (Manila Time) for the oath-taking and inauguration of the first Black US President, Barrack Obama. It's a momentous event for me not because of the politics behind his victory, but because of what he represents. His winning symbolizes that anybody can dream dreams regardless of odds and tradition.

Cory's Passing
Like most Filipinos, I was deeply saddened by the death of Former President Cory Aquino last August 2009. Together with my family and Witt, we lined up in Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to see her remains and to sympathize with her family. Her death paved the way for the younger generations to know more about her conjugal heroism with her husband, Ninoy, and their great contribution to the Philippines.

The Famous Le Cirque Dinner
Guess who spent $20,000 on a Le Cirque dinner while the Philippines is mourning for former President Aquino? There are so many disastrous things that GMA did this year but this one is my favorite. It's so in your face! $%#^*@!#

GMA, Le Cirque, $20,000

The Hayden Kho Scandal
Hayden should thank Ondoy, Pepeng, Manny Pacquiao and even Krista. We will still be talking about Hayden (and Maricar, Katrina, Vicky, and the Brazilian Model) until now if not for the typhoons and people I mentioned in the first sentence. Isa kang henyo, Hayden!

Nonoy & Mar's Announcements
Noynoy is the unexpected game changer for the 2010 Philippine election. His mother's death gave him the opportunity to seriously run for the highest position in the land; capitalizing on important values like prudence, humility honesty. A lot has already been said about this so I'll stop now.

Erap's Announcement
Enough already! The scum wants to try again. Anyone who reads this blog knows how much I hate the guy.

Ondoy
Definitely the newsmaker of the year (with Pepeng trailing behind). Typhoon Ketsana came gently into the good night of September 25 without us knowing that it will bring massive rain water for eight straight hours that will result to the great Manila flood in recent memory. Ondoy is heart-breaking because it devastated and affected people whom you actually know. Everyone has an Ondoy story to tell. Whether it's a story of loss, heroism or bayanihan, everyone has a tale to tell. It was a chaotic two weeks for the Philippines but it also showed how Filipinos can rise from tragedy and help those in need.

Ondoy After-math

Other runners-up on my list of Top News Events are the Maguindanao Massacre, the ZTE debacle and Manny Pacquiao (his winnings and the Krista-gate).
